My professor is David Raatz and I have been taking BLAW for 8 weeks now. BLAW is a course offered by UHMC, it's also an online course. We started learning about procedural laws and legal reasoning. After this, we went over amendments to the constitution and business. One of my favorite parts was the chapter on ethics in business. This chapter gave intriguing thoughts on careers and business behavior. Next, we learned about tort law, this chapter was content-heavy and hard to understand. We also learned about property rights and also learned about social and internet law. Who knew there was so many technology law? This went over warrants and copyrights. Lastly, I focused on E-Contracts, this chapter was interesting since it was very clear and a main very important subject in Law. We learned the Statute of Fraud which is a common law requiring written offers and agreements over 500$, only for certain purchases.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
The 21st Century skills this class has advertised are Financial, Economic, and Business Literacy skills. These skills mean that a student must demonstrate “an understanding of business processes, entrepreneurial spirit, and the economic forces that drive today’s economy”. I believe this course has developed and improved my skills in Financial, Economics, and Business Literacy skills since it's an important topic that needs to be introduced to all audiences as it becomes a way of life. Before this course I didn't know much about Law and threw these weeks my economics skill has flourished with new definitions and government.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
From this course, I am most proud of taking my time and my curiosity in certain topics and thriving for an understanding of them. The course is quite content heavy and I need to understand terms from past knowledge for each chapter. For example they are not going to explain certain courts like federal and state anymore since we its past knowledge and we must have it memorized to understand the topic so, when I come across something I forgot and am unsure about what it means, I will research it for a deeper understanding.

What was most difficult about completing this task?
The most difficult part of this course is staying in your work. Every week I have a due date with quiz summaries and a chapter to read. It's difficult to read parts of a chapter that just bore me. We will have 20 pages of very deep content on just “The Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA)”. This act is about electronic communication.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
If I redid this work, I would have not procrastinated as much during the first and second weeks. In those first chapters, I did not develop a good understanding, which resulted in further not understanding in another chapter since those first chapters were going over the basics. Next time, I will have stayed focused and created a strong understanding in the beginning. I have learned that the first weeks of a class are probably the most important.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
In the past, I have been curious about government and law, I had never taken a course that was primarily based on Business or Law.
Understanding these topics will help me in the future financially and most likely people get involved with cases with renting law, and life. This learning may also offer a future career if I chose this path. Other career paths will make this prior learning quite helpful and I will be able to litigate stronger in situations using the gained knowledge.
