Reflection
Last quarter my class and I did a face portrait with my class. I haven't drawn in a couple years , I was not the best drawer but this last assignment went very well. In the beginning I was thinking that the portrait wouldn't look like me or even a human but at the end it turned out very well. Before the portrait the class Ms. Getzen taught the class how to draw the eyes, lips, nose, ears, and the layout for the face.
I chose to share my portrait since art is a subject I used to struggle with but the portrait shows that I improved very much. I also chose this for my portfolio so I can look back on it and see my portrait and since I spent a lot of time working on this, I took my time and the more time I put into it the better it got. I am very proud of what I painted.
I used the 21st century skill called Self-directional skills, which is a persons ability to find there goals and identify their own learning needs. I used this 21st century skill since I had to re watch and rewind many times on many videos to learn drawing Technics and the pattern of eyes and step by step process for drawing.
This assignment shows a huge amount of growth from my art in the past to the present. A couple challenges I faced was spending to much time on certain thing because it did not look right. I probably took 2 hours adjusting the eyes until my paper had so many pencil scrapes and eraser marks. I also had the challenge of losing effort during the drawing I was thinking to my self "what would happen if I turned in poorly drawn portrait and made it seem like a lot of effort" but, I had to keeping mind that work isn't just about the grade it is all lot about the mind set and the effort and your own determination.
Next time I would have asked more questions about lining up the dimensions of my face using fingers.
