One project I had this semester that was very hands on was creating a cart for a dog with no front legs with my friend Ty. This was for community engagement, during the semester Stewie the dog would come in and hop around on 2 legs and Ty and I decided to try create a cart for him. For this project, it took emails and many brainstorms and thought out ideas. One idea we had that was a good one was using thermoplastics to create a shield as a harness, but it kind of fell apart due to time and other factors. We created a model of the dog even in Mr.Hazlets room. We mostly talked to a main member of the H.A.R.F(Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation). We had to gather measurements and work as a team. One weekend a month ago in March, Ty and I went up to their property and see what they were exactly working on up their. There station is in Waihe'e side and they rescue and animals abandoned, lost or mistreated. If I were to redo this project I would have brought the dog in multiple time to have the cart well suited for him. Since we relied on measurements and kind of assured guessing it did not fit. The main 21st century skill we used for this project was Interpersonal since this project included mostly communication with he teachers and members of the group since you had to throw ideas out there and needed to say exactly what you needed for the cart to be finished. Ty and I showed leader ship and responsibility during this project and had fun to especially creating a wooden carved Stewie. We can apply the hands on learning, with allen wrenches and fabrication to future learning.
