Reflection
Last quarter I created a bill in Participation in Democracy. My bill topic was Banning Styrofoam I included The Purpose, Benefits, provisions and, Administration. The bill was formatted like a real bill with new vocab words and boxes for answers. I had to list why the bill should be placed, The benefits from the bill, what will it enforce and, how will it be enforced.
I chose this for my portfolio since it shows that I care about the environment. I also wanted this on my portfolio since it is a real issue. It also shows that I provide good and trustworthy facts for the bill to get passed.
This bill represents Civic Literacy and Engagement since the bill explains a lot of impacts on the environment and humans. This also explains the requirements a bill needs to get passed in a government. This bill also helps connect to the community since this is a topic the community will care about.
This bill challenged me because there were a lot of words that I needed to know to fill out the bill. It showed that I provided strong facts and reasoning. Most of the information on the bill had came from researching and pass knowledge I knew about Styrofoam.
Next time I would have rather looked through the format of the bill to know what questions I should ask during class next time. I also wish I used less facts on the environment and more on impacts on businesses. I also wish I read it over for grammar mistakes and misspellings. I did not put that many facts that included numbers.
